The Wanderer Returns

It's been a while since I last came on my blog. There are a couple of reasons for this.

Firstly, because, on a personal note, I've generally had a terrible month and my blog and Facebook were forgotten about for a while. I continued in my attempts to keep moving my writing forward but there was little energy left for much else

Secondly, when I did find a place where the personal stuff had been dealt with in my small headspace, the writing took over. I've been so busy with a self imposed deadline of mid November to complete this by, that I'm going into a bit of a panic and doing little else but writing when I can. This again affects my blogging as you have seen.

The reason for this push on the writing front is when I've finished the manuscript I'm sending it out into the big wide world on submission. A scary process but one as writers we have to take.

I realised though, that I should start to give my blog some love again and catch up with everyone. So I hope some of you remember me. I'm looking forward to catching up and finding out what you've been up to.

  2. Hey Rebecca,

no worries! I've made myself rather scarce in the online world lately, too...

It's the writing that's the most important, no?

  3. Personal life always likes to get in the way of writing and blogs. I feel you, and had my own personal problems this past month too. Hopefully, this look up for both of us with November starting. =) Good look with submitting your writing when it's time.

  5. Sarah - thank you. It's actually good to be back. I wrote that post last night when I was tired and I've since edited it. It generally says the same thing but I saw the effect of painkillers made it a bit sloppy. I'm not sure things are better yet but my headspace is dealing with it a bit easier now.

Tessa - it's good to see you back as well. It's definitely the writing that's important and sometimes you have to knuckle down and focus but I think with a little effort I can try and keep up the blog as well. I love blogging and I love the friends I have found in the blogging world. I look forward to catching up with you.

Patricia - I'm sorry to learn you've also had some personal issues. I hope that they are easing for you. It's not easy to keep everything going when your personal life demands so much time and attention. I'm now stressing about submission! How's the Being Human journey been going? I look forward to catching up with you.

Laura - thank you. It's good to be home :) I look forward to catching up with you. Submission terrifies me!

  7. Thanks Linda. Now I'm back on the blog I'm sure I will be writing about all the insecurities submission brings with it. As you know.

  8. Rebecca, Being Human is doing good. Received my first payment from Amazon this weekend so that was cool. Now it's on to the sequel! (If I ever stop knitting, been in a crafty mood lately. lol)

  11. It's so good to see you back! I've missed, well not your smiling face as I've never seen it, but your writing voice. But I'm glad you've still been using it elsewhere. Good luck meeting your deadline, I know I'll most likely be in a similar mindset come the end of next month.

And yeah, submissions are scary. But the first one is always the worse, so things get better quickly. The part I hate the most is just the wait.

So sorry October didn't agree with you, but you came back on the right weekend. Candy, cider, and costumes are a great way to lift spirits.

Annalisa - Thank you. You;re in the process? The thought is just scaring me alone. Wishing you so much luck with it. I will keep up with how you're doing.

Thanks Jenny. It's actually nice to be back. Especially on seeing the familiar faces who have come back to see me!
I look forward to talking with you as we both go through the submission process. I think it's a time when we definitely need to talk to other writers! Good luck!

  13. Karen! So sorry, I don't know how I managed to miss you when I was working down in a straight line. It doesn't help that I'm trying to eat my breakfast before going to work!
Thank you for your kind words. We do need to adjust our priorities sometimes and October was such a time for me. Hopefully I can stay focused this month :)
